Matt
Meet The Team
Matt Nugent
BSc DVM
Matt was born on the family farm and has resided there his entire life as the 5th generation.
Growing up with horses, actively participating in horse and dairy 4H, and working with his dad, led to a desire to continue the family business. After completing a BSc in biology at Brock University, Matt continued to the Ontario Veterinary College, graduating in 2013. He immediately took the reins from his dad at the practice he grew up in. He has a special interest in reproduction and dentistry.
He also took a position as Commission veterinarian at Fort Erie Racetrack, starting in the summer of 2013.
He still has his 4H paint horse Willie, and three dogs: Howie, a terrier, Norman and Cliff, both St. Bernards. When he isn't busy with the practice, Matt can be found spending time with his girlfriend, playing hockey, mountain biking, or woodworking.
Earle Nugent
DVM
Earle was born and raised in Welland, residing on the family farm his entire life as the 4th generation.
Growing up on a dairy farm, it was a natural progression to vet school at the University of Guelph. As a member of the Ontario Veterinary College class of 1973, Earle went directly to work at the Dain City Animal Hospital, which some of you may remember. Two years later, he purchased the large animal portion where he has been working ever since.
He was also a Commission veterinarian overseeing thoroughbreds at Fort Erie Ractrack since the mid 80's.
When he isn't working, Earle enjoys maintaining his farm, growing hay, and waiting for the Leafs to win again.
Kristen Leppert
Kristen is the main veterinary assistant and has been with us for 8 years.
She often provides laser treatments and runs the fecal samples we receive.
She enjoys spending time with her horses, dogs, cats and goat.
